Hey guys, Im looking at getting a winch sometime down the road and wondering what brand you guys are using. Also, hydraulic or electric?

Warn is about the best winch out there. Electric seems to be the most popular. I've never seen an hydraulic winch in real action. So I'm not sure what the pros vs the cons would make out to be worth it or not. But electric seems to do just fine for me.
Just my two copper coins.

I'm running a electric power winch. It was cheap and works for me.

I gave $81.00 for it. I baught it from work. They baught it in 98' and never used it. It says 10 ton pulling system on it but I question that. It only has 30' of 3/16" cable. It works great though. I have no idea of where they baught it from. In J. C. Whitney they have one similar for like $150.00. I have never really even heard of power winch before. Try looking for a web site I could not find one.

Yea, after I got it mounted up and stuff we went out to get it stuck and winched it out. I didnt mean to get stuck when I did. I got a little water in the intake and she stalled in a mud/water hole. The winch worked nicely. I have no complaints so far.

Power Winch makes winches mostly for boat trailers, etc. But also for vehicles. I have a 3500 lb single line/6000 lb double line rated one I got in 1980, have had it on 2 4x4's, and it still works great and never let me down. I know they had a web site in 2001, but I think it was under a parent company's name or something.
I have a Mile Marker 9K winch on my 4Runner now.
