Well I just went and bought an '83 4x4 sight unseen. :-XThe guy said he bought a cheap oil filter and the gasket blew on it. The oil ran out and the motor locked up. I'm gonna try and just put some oil in it and see if I can limp it back home. Any suggestions on any additives or anything else I should do also. He's done quite a bit of body work, it has 31" tires on it, and a lighted roll bar. So I figure even if the motors shot, I can get my $500 back on it, just parting it out if i had to.

Hmmm...having a motor siezed and hoping to get it to turn over by adding some oil might be long shot. I would bring along a trailer. I definately don't think you will be driving this baby home any long distance. There is a lot of stuff that could have happened with running it without oil. Could have thrown a rod, seized a bearing, or other problems. As far as parting it out, here are some items that might be worth something I can think of... tranny, transfer case front axle tires misc interior and exterior parts With those being sold you might be able to get your money back. I've bought and parted out trucks before and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. YOu just have to be patient to sell everything. Good luck man and I hope she starts.

ha,ha...I can't say for sure .......but i'll bet that if you can get it to start, it'll idle ok for a little.... but as soon as you start to drive and put a little pressure on the components, you'll come to a grinding halt in under 30 seconds. Can't hurt to try though.

;D I seriously doubt it'll run at all. Tow it home & play w/it. Not too many things suck as bad as working @ someone else's house. Unless...they have a heated garage ;D The moral of this story: cheap parts are NEVER cheap!! Later...
