I guess that depends on what you intend to do with it... Are you looking to make an all out rockcrawling rig, a super tall mini monster truck, mudbogger or just something to play in the snow with? Do you want a solid front axle? If yes, are you willing to do a ton of work to get it? Give us something to work with here ;D

Yup we need a little for information on what u want it for. But yes soild axle is the best setup to go with, its easier to put 44boggers for mudding, get greater flex when rockcrawling, and can take more abuse then the IFS. Then again, a SAS can be done to any 4x4 if u gots the $. Your Taco 4x4?

well i just want a good truck for mild off roading to start with and then lift it a little about 3-4 inchs maybe 33's
i do want it to be driveable everyday as well nothing x treme at all i do want the 22r or the 22re with 5speed and reg cab i was thinking about an 88 thru 93 just thinking i had a 95 taco ext cab 3.4.auto 4x4 but traded it off for something else then bought a new truck a 2003 taco ext cab 3.4 5speed sr5 silver bucket seats etc. and the wife had to have it so i'm driving a 90 chevy silverado which i would trade or sale to someone willing to trade for a toyota 4x4 (above) by the way she was driving a camary 93 4cyl auto loaded still have it too duane

Then if u just want a mild 4x4. Then just get something that u like and feel comfortable with doesnt need to be a straight axle. But 4" lift and 33s sound good, but added locked diffs would be even better, or at least the rear.

i agree with carlos, i have an 88 toy with 5'"of lift with 33's and it is my daily driver as well as a mild mudder(definately nothing to serious) and never had a probem mechanically or in comfort

i have a 99 taco with a 3 in lift and 31's. i've had the truck for 2 yrs. and the only problem i've had is the starter went out last summer. i drive it every day and also do some mild mudding. its a great truck
