There are a lot of possibilities depending on the intended use of the truck and the condition of your existing suspension. What works for mud isn't great for rocks, etc. Real cheap would be longer shackles, but if your springs are shot, they're not much help. AALs would help some in any case, but can give a harsher ride. New packs front and rear would be a better choice, but more expensive.
Get the picture, there are a lot of choices depending on what you have/want.

How much lift?
Best never=cheap
I would go with All Pro front springs($199) and maybe add a leafs and longer shackles in the back to match the height. If you have the fab skill you could do the chevy spring swap in the back(check the tech section) which will usually run under 100 bucks in total.
If you lift 3" or more you will need some sort of steering correction. You can buy a drop pitman arm to use your stock steering, but for best on and off road handling an upgrade to a crossover system will be needed. They start around $399 and area available from several vendors. You will also likely have to go to longer shocks with 3 or more inches of lift, so take that into consideration as well.
