I have a 98 tacoma with the 2.7 L , 5spd 4x4 and I want to put it up on 35's i know the stock gears are not enough push them down the interstate so i would like to know witch gears will do the trick My main purpose is a show truck not really a mudder so i need something more economical and not a killer on gas and my motor thanks could use the help

You want to keep your RPM range with the new tire size the same as it is with the stock tire size. Typically 4.88 gears on 4 cyl 5 spd Toys which have 4.10's stock.

this should help you identify what you have for gearing. ....i would regear to either 4.88's or 5.29's if you want to try and maintain some driveability . if you do indeed have 4.10's you might be able to run the bigger tires but i seriously doubt that you will like the lack of power , if you have 4.56's you should be able to run the 35" tires with a tolerable amount of power loss . 4.88's would be the way to go if it was my truck . i see far to many mall jockeys parading around with 35 inch tires and the wrong gears. ... here is a link for the axle codes www.off-road.com/toyota/taco/tech/axle/axlecodes.html ......Von Warner
