I have a 95 tacoma with a 2.7 4 cyl. right now it is running 29's. I would like to upgrade to 33's. I Know I will have to lower the gearing but even at that I've been told it would be a big strain on the 4. if anyone can give any info. on rather it would be a good idea to run 33's or to just stick with 31's which I know want hurt the engine to push, I would be very appreciative.
I submited this and found a couple of replys elsewhere on 33's winth a 2.7 which helped a little but I would still like some more oppinions/facts. thanks

Since you got the 2.7L, that tells me you have a 4wd. Why do you have 29's on it?? They came stock with 31x10.5's!!! Look in your drivers door frame for a sticker. It will have the axle code on it that decoded, will tell you what gears you have and how well your 2.7L will handle pushin' 33's. You didn't mention if your an auto or manual but either way, weater or not you can push them tires is all depending on gears. You can push 38's if you gear right. I say to run some 4:88's with a 2.7L and 33's ;D. I'm saving for some now but I run a 2.7L auto with 34's. Right now with the 34's and stock 4:10's, OD is useless.

you will be fine pushing the 33's with the 2.7. i had the 22re and pushed 33's for years. it is just all in the gearing. I would go with 4.56 to be close to stock if you have the 5peed if you have auto i would go with 4.88 for stock like ride. Or for better perfromace offroad go with 4.88's in the 5speed. don't worry you have a toyota engine it will run upside down. redtoy92
