This has had me boggled for a few weeks and I cannot figure it out. Whenever I got to cardomain.com, or other sites to look at pictures of trucks, I see nice Tacoma's, that look lifted, but they are not, but whenever I go onto autotrader to look for ones in my area. All I find are these little mini truck's. Do people buy them like little mini trucks, then add larger tires? What am I missing here?
I forgot to add. I am looking at the 1995-1999 area.
I am going for how the newer 2003 tacomas look. But I do not have the cash to fork out for a newer one.
Thanks in advance

I think we need more info on this one. Are you refering to larger tires over 31's in size? Not sure I understand your question...

Well, I have a '98 PreRunner and it kinda looks lifted. It's set up like the 4x4s without it actually being 4WD. The 4x4s sits up high as well. The regular 2WD Tacomas are, like, mini trucks. Maybe that's what you're talking about? And the first year of the PreRunner is '98, so if it is any older than that, then it can't be a PreRunner, but maybe just a 4x4.
That's the only thing I can think of, without the truck having an actual lift.

Ok I see what you are talking about now. You are right about the pre-runner. They came out with the 2 wheel drive pre runner that sits at the same height as the 4x4. They did this because a lot of people want the taller truck without 4x4. The older 2 wheel drive trucks did not have this option and did not have the same suspension as the pre runners. Therefore they are shorter than the 4x4 models. If it is a older toyota and as tall as a 4x4...then it is a 4x4. You can always find out by looking for front driveshafts, CV shafts, diff ect... If there isn't anything there then it is 2 wheel drive.
