I have a 2000 Tacoma PreRunner 4 cyl/Auto. When I brake the front end and steering wheel rumble/shake. What should I check? Also is there another Tacoma forum on the net that anybody would recommend?

I don't know much about the Tacoma, but I would think this sounds like you have warped rotors, or at least they have a hot spot. Check the brakes, either yourself or you take it somewhare. You may need to get the rotors honed, or even replace them.

I agree with desert rat. Sounds like your front rotors are warped. Take them in to a brake shop and have them turn them, hone them, or whatever. As far as other sites....Man we can't be going around promoting other sites now can we... But in the best interest of your tacoma surfing, you might check out www.tacomaterritory.com (TTORA). That stands for Tacoma Territory Off Roaders Association. Pretty good board with mainly tacomas. But be sure to keep posting around here. We need more tacoma owners on this board as well. ;D

I just picked up my 98 Taco about 2 months ago. I had the same problem when I bought - actually got the dealership to take off 1000 bucks due to the shake - but it was only the rotors. Took them down to the local shop, had them turned, and it went away. From your description, it sounds just like what was goin on w/ mine. So atleast take the old rotors somewhere and see if they can turn them, if they can - have them due it. Put them back on there, and Im almost posotive it will take away the issue. Problem fixed for only 20 bucks ;D
