Okay, so I've been going left and right left and right about these choices. I know that on my 99 tacoma pickup, I'm going to run 33x12.5x15. I know that for a fact, I don't want to go to 35's simply because I don't really have a need for that tall of a tire....my struggle is if I should get the 4" Procomp lift or the 6 Inch Fabtech lift. It's about 50% asthetics and 50% mechanical. Will the 6 inch look crappy with the 33's. Also I don't really want rub, I don't think the 4 inch will rub unless I come down on pretty hard on it....and i think the two kits only have about a 300 dollar difference, so it would be based on asthetics and mechanical.....please give me some feed back on what ya'll think....oh yeah, and no body lifts....

If you plan on running 33's, then the 4" lift will work fine for you. The 6" lift will work but you might eventually want to go with 35's. Had a friend run 33's on his taco with 6" lift and it looked ok but really begged for a bigger tire. It depends on your future plans for the truck but I personally think a 4" lift is a good lift for a daily driver and part time wheeler. Get the 4" and spend the $300 on sliders to protect the body of the truck. The sliders also look really good. Thats my vote...

That is the way I was starting to lean.....I think i 6 inch lift is kind of extreme, but then again, as a college guy, having an extreme vehicle is one way to win of the women fold , thats why i put 50/50....haha

okay you left out way to much info for me to decide. first off what size of wheel are you going to run? 7,8,10,12? backspacing? I will tell you this... you will rub with the 4inch lift on 33 12.5 on 8 and really bad on 10. street will be okay. but offroad will be rough. you can do the pinch weld and help that out. a 6inch lift is perfect for 33 12.5 on 8 and 10 inch wheels. if you don't plan on running hard trails then the 4 will work. But what if you want bigger meats in the future? I would go with 6 but that is just my two cents

I was planning on running 15x8 wheels if the tire doesn't look too ballooned. Also to tell you the truth I have no clue what backspacing is or how much I need and/or am going to use, that was most likely either going to be my next post, or a phone call to 4 wheel parts....

15x8's will be fine for 12.5 wide tires and they won't look ballooned. I have ran them for a long time and have friends with tacomas that run them. The backspacing will probably be the standard 3.75 (yeah I messed up on saying that). I'm pretty sure thats what you want but just ask the salesguy. Summit Racing also has some good cheap wheels if you want to check pricing. I used the black 84 series US wheel for about $50 a piece.
As far as rubbing is concerned, you will probably rub a bit offroad. I had a 4" lift with 33's and rubbed some under full turn and compression. But it wasnt that bad to bother me. I will say this...if you think you might want to go higher than 4" in the future and are not planning on a SAS, then you might want to lean to the 6" lift. People have a hard time being content and most likely want something bigger when they get used to what they have. So it is up to you but I still think a 4" with 33's would be nice. There will always be bigger rigs and better stuff. Just work on setting yours up the way YOU like it.

wo wo wo... Not to put snorkle down or anything - but your not going to want 4.75" backspacing at all! If you were to find a wheel for our Taco's that has such a backspacing - your not even going to be able to put it on the truck due to that fact it will be hitting the caliper. Im thinking (and hoping) he ment 3.75" backspacing - that and 3.25" / 3.5" backspacing seem to work real well on our Taco's. The stock backspacing - 4" - on some aftermarket rims will rub as well. So when you purchase your wheels - look for the backspacing I mentioned above. Later Rob

Alright - backspacing is this - If you lay the rim face down on a flat surface - lay a straight edge across the wheel - measure from the surface that mounts to hub up to the bottom of the straight edge - thats your backspacing. hoe this helsp - im sure if you look around the internet or on our Tacoma web site ( TTORA.COM ) you could find a diagram. Later Rob ;D

Alright , now I know exactly what you're talking about, that's what I had pretty much figured, but I wasn't for sure....its like the bottom mount depth on a subwoofer.....kind of.....lol, terms I'm more familiar with.

It might be. LOL. Im more used to auto terms. Give it a try - and if its on stock rims you should come out with 4" Backspacing ( im fairly confident ) Later Rob

What exactly is backspacing....is there a website with diagrams or something....i'm lost with it. I think stock backspacing is 4.25 to 4inchs you will want about 3.75 for the aftermarket wheel for the 8inch. good luck red
