the best is a 85 pickup with SFA! but as for a tacoma i would say the cheapest 98 you can get with the rear locker! red

there is no differece between the 98-99 or 2000! but i would think most of the 98's would be cheaper then the 99. I would want the cheapest but best of the cheapest if i was to wheel it very hard. red

The best tocoma built is the 95.5 If I was on the market for one I would settle for nothing else. They cost less because of age and they look more like the older classic toys. Besides, I'd feel bad beating up a new one.

I would have to say the 2004 is the best. Until 2005's come out! Even though more bolt-on engine upgrades are available for the older Toyotas, I think the styling of the new trucks are way sweet

For the $ go with a 98-2000 but for better options go with a 2001-2004.

bought a '99 taco, 5 spd, v6 trd, no lift yet.... i rally that sucker anyway. shes a champ. wouldn't trade her for the world... unless it was for a '01 double-cab

I dont think that the double cab comes in 5 speed only auto. so if you like the 5 speed then you dont want the double cab.

All toys rule! The 2001 has the updated grill. I would say that the ones with JT in the vin # are the best (Japan)
