Manual transmission. I just wanna know what kind of power it can handle and just how strong it is. I want to free and add as many horses as possible,...but just want to know it the tranny will handle it all. Oh yeah,... -Anyone here race thier trucks at a track or something like that just to see what it runs? I want to run 14.0s or better. Thanks.

for the 86-88 truck it depends on the engine:if it is the 22RE then it is a W56 tranny rated for 190hp. If it is the V6 or 22RE turbo then is a R150 series tranny which is rated to 260hp. The tacomas came with a W59 for 4 cylinder which is stronger than the W56 maybe 200hp. And the V6's still come with the R150 transmission rated to 260 hp. Here is the site for reference. www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/9975/dataBySubject/Gearboxes.htmlAs for the automatics There isnt that much out there on them.

Come to think of it the W59 is at least as strong as the W58 so Id say at least 230hp.
