I was wondering if anyone knows how to stop the cam from turning while loosening the bolt without the SST tool that the book says to use. It is pretty pricey.

Is the chain still on? Pre-tension and use an air gun.
Or.... wrap the gear with a sliced rubber hose and use a chain clamp and BE VERY CAREFULL.
Check the chain-store parts places, they have many "tools" you can "buy" them return for full credit.

ooooooh. Still might...be able to find the tool. If not, still hella cheaper "do-it-your-self" Just think, you can sell the tool here after your done! Take pic's, post the repair, help others and have a tool available for sale when done. Your the best! Great idea Well, just a thought anyway... That's what I'd do. Stew

Called toyota, they won't sell the tool, said it's special order for their mechanics only, none of the parts stores have one either, I haven't tried Snap-On or Mac yet. I was kinda thinking the same thing, about selling it here. Or have everyone who thinks they might need it sometime pitch in a few bucks and let one of the moderators keep it, then we'd only have to pay mail costs to use it.

I found one at Autozone, it's universal Cam Holder Pulley Counter and it's $65. So I guess I'll buy this and it anyone is interested I'll sell it when I'm done. Thanks for all your help!
