heres the issue, on my 2000 tacoma, the passenger side leaf spring has some problems, the front shim, i would assume thats what it is, is no longer sanwiched in the major leafs. I tried smashing it back in without jacking up the truck, and that works but only short term. If I jack up the truck and take the pressure off that side, will I be able to jam the shim back in enough to keep it in? My vacation hinders on fixing this, and I dont want to do new leafs if I dont have to, any advice appreciated.

Are you talking about the pastic pieces at the end of the leafs or the plate at the center pin?

neither, this is a small shim thats about a foot long and sandwichs into the main leafs. It has a bracket around it to hold it to the main leafs.

If it's about a foot long and at the bottom of the pack, it's the overload leaf. The best way to solve it is to unbolt the axle from the spring and lower it so you can tighten the center pin.
