I'd say probably under the radio bezel would be good or I was thinking in the glove box myself.

Here is how I mounted mine. Got the idea from another member here who just happened to have the same model cb as I did. Its a Uniden 510 XL. It fit perfectly in the ashtray with minor trimming to the backing. This is in an 89 PU but I have seen it in older 4 runners as well.

I mounted mine in the panel for the passenger airbag. I removed the airbag then made a bracket(I misplaced the one that came with the CB) and mounted that to cover/panel then marked off the CB and cut out with a dremel tool. This isn't a finished product

I have my CB just like motivation has his. Fits just perfect in that hole, but it may suck if smoking is one of your hobbies.....

I dont ever use my belt clip for my cell phone my 05 has a little cubbie on the dash right under the ignition switch which I was able to clip the belt holder too, I keep my phone there its right in reach. i am sure you could find a spot for yours even if you have to pull the ashtray out a bit and clip it to that.

When I changed Cd players in my 98 Tacoma I was able to squeeze a small Cb into the little pocket that comes with the faceplate adapter kit. This still allowed me to use my ashtray, and other goodies.

Just a neat little unknown factoid. Most toyotas have the clock wiring right behind the filler panel even if it didn't have the clock from the factory. Find one at your local junk yard and you don't even have to do any wiring. I had one that needed a short harness that I just happened to grab along with the clock.

The best place to mount the cb is take head liner down take a piece of 3/4 plywood and pop rivet it to the roof with 6 pop rivets thats how i got my galaxy 73 & scanner put in the truck scanner hangs from bottom of CB where speaker screws are real easy just make sure to seal pop rivets mines been like that for 4 years never leaked only place to put big radio
