hey ppl im looking for some input here. im think of puttin some 35s on my 90 4runner w/ a 4" susp lift and 3" body lift. I do alot of regular city driving. theres 2 types of tires im lookin at:
BF Goodrich Krawlers or Super Swamper SSR radials or let me know what u think or are there any other good tires for this. I want maximum mud traction i can, but also somewhat good mileage. Thanks

Look at some different tires IMO. Although the Krawlers are great they wear very fast and wont hold up to regular street driving very well. The SSR i have never heard anything but bad things about, and if I was going with swampers I think the SX's would be a better choice. Still pretty crappy street tires, though awesome offroad and the people I know that have had them said the wear wasnt too bad. BFG MT's or Goodyear MTR's would probably suit you better and last you longer but they wont perform nearly as well in mud. This is the choice when selecting a tire for a dual purpose vehicle. Either you get a tire that is great in one area, but sucks in the other, or you get a tire that is mediocre in both situations. There really is no tire that does both things well.

get the BFG mud terrains they are awsome off road and on. most guys i know put 60 to 70 k on them . I run 35" bfg AT's they a pretty good off road and i put about 50k on them and they still look like new.

Yeah, boggers are king. Swamper SX's are great in mud as well and better on road then the Boggers.

TSL Radials might be a good choice since your going to drive alot on the street..and do some mud .......just remember that ONLY Interco swampers measure what they state.......all other's expecially are way light....basically don't measure up : 35's are like 33.5" at least on Procomp Muds, BFG muds, etc... swampers run true.........

I ride on Mastercraft Courser Mudterrains, they are cheap price, but they ride good on and off road. I have not had any problems out of them yet. Right now im runnin 31's but i got them for $88 a piece, im bout to be going higher to 35's which are about $130 a piece

The SSR i have never heard anything but bad things about Strange, I have never heard anything but good about SSRs. The siping improves traction all around. A great tire. Sure you're not thinking of Thornbirds ? True, for a mud tire MTRs perform poorly in the mud.

Yea considering the SSR's are one of the most expensive of the swamper line of tires, why wouldnt they be good. You have great sipping, great side lugs, the infamous 3rd lug, and they wear good on the road. Kinda louder. my buddy has ran up 75,000 on his, granted they are pure bald now, but hell, its 75,000 miles for peats sake. Hard rubber compounds on most car tires dont perform for that length of time!!

well, it actually wasn't my uncle, but his best friend, and this is just me guessing but a 3/4 ton fullsize pickup and somebody who likes to show off and super swampers doesn't really mix

No wonder he only got 3,000 miles hell if I put them on my 85 w/350 they wouldn't last long either
