i'm starting to save up for an sas and i was wandering how much lift would i need to run 38's or 39.5's and have some clearance(like keeping the 9.5" or 10" i currently have). right now i have a 3"b/l and 1.5" b/w the bjs and longer shackles.
off topic but would i need to run 5.71's instead of the 5.29's?

To run 39.5"s and stay Ifs. I have a buddy running a 5" suspension lift and a 3" bodylift with a believe there rancho torsion bars that are a larger millimeter size and provide more lift and can be cranked on up. Plus he has bushwacker cut out fender flares. He has around 10" of lift. And is running 39.5x18x15 tsl boggers. But he went through three rearends in a week. But he drove it like he stole it. He had 5.29's and the wouldn't hold up so he had to run 4.88's. There is no shifting into 5 gear and you will barely get into 4th gear with 4.88's.

To run that size tire you will need 10" to 12" of lift to clear. 10" for the 38's and 12" for the 39's. It depends on the width of the tire and width of the rim. The wider the tire and rim the higher the truck has to be. To be able to clear it when flexing and turning. Thats my .2 cents and the 5.71's wont hold up for hard core offroading. You might have luck with the 5.29's it depends on the offroading you do. If you have lockers and what your going to use the truck for. Street Queen 5.71's. Mild offroad and street driving 5.29's. Strictly offroad 4.88's and maybe 5.29's. The skinner the tire and rim the less lift you have to have to clear it. Depends on backspoacing of the rim and how far it throughs the rim and tire out or how far it pulls it into the frame. Good Luck.

Yeah I bet it is funny 39.5" iroks on 4" of lift. You must have trimmed the hell out of those fenders and let the tires do some self clearing themselves. And like I said skinner tires less lift. The tires you are running are 39.5x13.50 by whatever size rim. The tires I stated lift for were 39.5x18x15 boggers on 12" wide rims. Turning the tires is were the lift is needed. The lift amount I stated was with leaving the truck the way it should be uncut. But thats my .2 cents. Send a picture to live4yotas@yahoo.com.

Except the cutting required for the bushwacker cutout fender flares. Your lift height and tire size is used for rock crawling to keep your center of gravity lower. My lift high is for mudriding and trail riding. Thats what my buddy is running on his truck IFS about 10" and the 39.5" boggers and it clears but not by much. No lift laws here.

Havent seen one that year with any custom hangers that move the axle forward. What kind of front springs are you running? What gears are you running for the 39.5's? Stock toyota axles or what?

i built all my own hangers and i am using toyota rear springs in the front. the toyota rear springs have the center pin 2 full inches forward of any aftermarket spring and my hanger moved the spring another 2 inches forward. the front is a dana 44 with 5.38s and the rear is toyota with 5.29s the 14 bolt should be ready by September. it also has dual cases and 4.7 gears for wheelin

Sounds good man. It should go where you want. Is the 14 bolt going to be full width or are you going to do some custom cut down to make it closer to yota length? Is the dana 44 full length or something custom?

44 is narrowed 4 inches so its at 63.5 inches the rear i s goin to be a cab and chassis 14 bolt wich is also 63.5 inches. i am goin to put 8 lug stuff on the front and it will widen me to 65 inches.
