I have a 2000 tacoma and would like to lift it just 2" or 3". I am wondering what the best would be to do. I know that I can ruin my cv boots if I go too high with a suspension lift. Is that the case with a body lift as well? Anyone have any ideas with which way I should go? Also I hear that with a body lift the truck can become a little more unstable. Is that true or just a tale I heard? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I believe that the unstability of which you speak is a tale. The frame, drivetrain, and all other heavy components short of the cab are going to be the same height as before. Sure it is going to be more unstable than if you hadn't lifted it at all, but not any more than a suspension lift. As for which way to go, I don't think(but I am no late model expert) that a 2" lift is going to stress out CV joints if it is done with a quality kit. I am sure that lots of our members have done just that without negative results. My bro lifted his 97 Tacoma with a 3" kit several years ago and has only had to replace a cv boot once because of the abuse he has put it thru. Other than that, no issues, his truck is a great off-road ride. If you are looking to increase ground clearance and flex, you need a suspension lift. If you want to stuff bigger tires onto the truck and not affect the factory travel or ride, perhaps a body lift is the answer.

As to the suspension lift, the spacers for the front coils work great, if there is an issue with your CV's, there is also a 1'' front front differential drop available. You may also consider this in conjuntion with a 1'' BL.
