Hey any snowmobilers out there? Im thinkin of buying a sled and was wondering what to buy i am looking for a good reliable sled for around 2k. I would mostly be riding trails and some small jumps and towing a portable ice fishing shelter. Thanks guys and have fun riding.

I'm a sledder. I've got a 95 Indy 500. I beat the piss out of it and it holds up fairly well. I had to replace some rivets on the tunnel this year but nothing major has gone wrong with it except I've blown it up twice. But that was my fault. I didn't clean the carbs out properly in the fall. Indy 500's are not too bad of a machine and they are pretty quick. I can do 70mph across a lake with some snow on it and on an ice road I got mine just a bit over 100mph. Its lots fast enough to kill yourself anyways. And while out riding it holds its own in the powder vs other standard length track machines. If you buy any older sled make sure you have the couple hundred for a rebuild kit on it because its inevitable that it will blow up on you someday. I've blown 4 sleds up and I'm only 19. Well 3 I did the 95 twice. But get one that is newer than a 96 if going the route of Indy 500s because you will get the Xtra 10 suspension which is much much nicer than the older one on mine. And stay away from the 600 and 650 triples Polaris has. I wouldn't touch them with a 1000 foot pole. They are prone to dying. And the reason I am talking all about Polaris is I don't really have any experience with any other machine other than to say my friends 05 Skidoo mxz Rev 500 ss is a nice sled. Its got lots of go along with a nice ride and its good on fuel.

Thanks, All my buddies are die hard ski-doo fans, so im not sure if they are just saying other sleds suck cuz there not ski-doo, as most of them (like me) are 16-18 years old. So they really havent riden anything else but ski-doo.

i had a 90 indy classic 500. good power for me (about 200 pounds) and had no problem dragging me and some buddies on skis along behind. i remember it breaking alot, but it could of just been because it was old. i would go with a skidoo or something tho. before i had the polaris i had a 72 skidoo olympic 355 that was amazing. it never broke. but yeah, i would go with skidoo.
