ROCKPORT OFF-ROAD PARK’S 2004 ROCKCRAWL CHALLENGE
All Classes are open to New Competitors!
Rockport Off-Road Park will host three Extreme Rock crawling events in 2004. The dates are March 27th and 28th, June 26th and 27th, Sept. 25thand 26th, The March event was limited to two classes. The June and September events will involve three classes. Class One will be stock, class Two will be modified stock and class Three will be the open class . There will be a limit of 15 vehicles per class. Each event will consist of two days that will start on Saturday. at 7:30 a.m. for a brief tech. inspection. The stock class and open class will run on Saturday and the modified stock class will run on Sunday. You must sign up two weeks before the event dates to insure a spot.
There will be a point chase series for all three events for the stock and modified stock class. You must participate in all events available to your class to be qualified for series champion (least amount of points for all events.) The open class will not have a point chases series for the 2004 events, this will begin in 2005. There will a 100 % payback per event for the top three spots in each class.
Entry fees $100.00 entry for stock class and $150.00 entry for modified stock class and open class. Series champion pay will be determined by sponsor monies.
This event is divided into three stages, with each stage being more difficult, and a special stage in case of a tie. There will be 3 judges per stage, and two marshals for per event. Judges will decide how points are given. Flags will be set up as gates and caution tape as boundaries throughout the three stages. This will be a timed event.
Drivers can and should have one spotter or co-driver. Competitors must wear seat belts at all times when in the vehicle.
Once entering the rockcrawl course area, a competitors’ vehicle may not leave the rockcrawl course area without a judge accompanying them.
Any participant deemed under the influence of alcohol or drugs or having ANY alcohol container on the premises will be immediately disqualified.
All vehicles must be found safe by competition judges during vehicle tech inspections. If a vehicle safety issue is brought to a competitors attention, the competitor may fix the problem and it not count towards the 45 minute break down time if it is done before the competition starts. The vehicle must be readmitted for tech inspection after the fix is done.
There is a minimum weight restriction of 2500 lbs for all vehicles in all classes.
Class one will be stock. - Vehicles in stock class must have current license plates, be street legal, have front and rear lockers, working winch, full roll cage on open top rigs, and all recommended safety equipment. (Seat belts, fire extinguisher, tree saver, leather gloves, first aid kit, winch weight if using steel cable.)
Vehicles of O.E.M. style body, frame and suspension. Flat front fenders, and minor body trimming allowed, body must be factory width. Frame can be no shorter than leading or trailing edge of tires. A maximum of a 4 inch suspension lift, stock style springs, no Revolver shackles or expanding-type shackles, no quarter elliptical springs, no buggy springs, no coil over shocks, no long arm bars, no air bags, no spring over axel if not factory style, no coil springs if not factory style springs ,factory suspension mounting points no more than 2” over stock , shackle reversal approved for leaf springs,3” body lift max, hydraulic assisted stock steering approved, must meet state and local laws for lights s, must have front and rear lockers, working winch, 35” tires, as advertised on the sidewall. Overall wheelbase must remain +/- 2.5” of stock, with a width of no more than 96”outside of tires.
Class two will be modified stock. - Vehicles must retain factory grill, hood, firewall, body and frame must be of stock origin for the year of the vehicle, frame can be aftermarket OEM design that meets stock specifications(only rectangle tube), at least to the axel center line, plating for strength or repair accepted, full cage to the frame that protects driver on open top vehicles, wheelbase of no more than 115”, with a width of no more than 98”outside of tires, must have front and rear lockers, working winch, seat belts, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, tree saver, leather gloves, winch weight if using steel cable, any suspension upgrades, hydraulic steering accepted, no rear steer, 40” tires, as advertised on the sidewall, 3” body lift max.
Class three will be the open class. - Maximum tire size of 40” and all vehicle safety requirements (working winch, seat belts, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, tree saver, leather gloves, winch weight if using steel cable, and full cage to the frame that protects the driver) Rear steer is allowed, however there will 15 penalty points awarded for each usage.
We will use a point system, series points follow the driver. Driver and spotter are not allowed to switch places. Different spotters are allowed for each event, with each driver starting the stage with 0 points. Max points of 50 for each stage for stock class and 40 points for modified stock and open classes. Max time limits of 20 minutes per stage for stock class, a max time limit of 15 minutes per stage for modified stock and a max time of 12 minutes per stage for the open class. If you reach max points or max time, you will be finished for that stage.
Bypassing a stage or no show: a team that chooses to completely bypass an obstacle or does not show up for the 3 minute call will receive 60 points in the stock class and 50 points in the modified stock and open classes.
Not finishing a stage: a team that places two tires of the vehicle through the start gate will receive 55 points in the stock class and 45 points in the modified stock and open classes.
If you break, you will have 45 minutes of cumulative breakdown time per day of the competition. Once the 45 minutes is exceeded, that team is disqualified for the day and receives 55 points for each remaining stage if in the stock class and 45 points for each remaining stage if in the modified stock or open class.
