First you have to understand that I live in Arizona (It is very hot here!). But I want to have the AC rebuilt in my 85 pick-up 4x4. I have owned the truck for over 2 years and the AC has never worked. I don't know whether or not to convert to R-134 or stay with R-12. I have also heard about some type of propain mixture that is compatible with the oils left behind by R-12. Any suggestions???

The AC on my 84 4Runner hasn't worked since before I got it. I took it to a shop and they did a vacum test to check for leaks, and there were none. So they just filled it with R134 and some oil and it works fine. That simple, but it may not work in every case.
