How do you remove the spare tire on an 82? It is in the normal spare tire place, under the bed. The guy I bought it from put on 33" mudders but left a 28" snow tire as the spare. Also, should I remove it or leave it for the added weight in the rear?

Well to remove it you take the rod thats behind the seat for jacking up the truck and put it through a hole by the back liscence plate and crank the tire down but if you havent removed it recently and the guy before you didnt either than its probly stuck. You probly wont be able to get the crank system to work so youll prolly have to use the torch to cut the chain. That back frame cross member on my 82 was so rusted out that I had to cut the whole thing out and replace it with 3x3 box. I have my spare in the back of my truck now. Even on my dads 91 we couldnt get the spare down. Before you take the torch to it take the air out of the tire and try to get the tire loose but the torch will work alot better and faster. ;D

yeah, depending on how rusted your truck is, you might or might not have to cut the spare out. on my '80, i didn't have to, just had to get a little leverage on the rod to crack it loose, then it was fine. but yeah, like 82 said, there's a hole above the back license plate that if you look through you'll see a slotted thing to stick the flat end of the rod into to crank the tire down
