Hoping alot of the parts off an 83 reg cab will fit on 84 ext cab. ie are the frames interchangeable? Picking up a donor truck, mostly for the motor and gears (4:88's welded in rear). I would like to keep the frame and other parts as spares though. maybe even sand blast the frame and paint it up and make a swap, if of course they will swap. Should I just wait to see if I can get another 84/85 ext cab or am I good to go with th 83? Thanks alot this is a biggie help.

Frames are close but not exact, but you can make it work. I've got an 84 2WD regular cab/short bed on my 83 4WD/long bed frame.
The front cab mounts (by the radiator) are the biggest difference, they're are farther apart on the 84 than the 83 (or maybe the opposite).
The front in-cab mounts (at your feet) are close, just drill a new hole next to the old one.
The rear cab mounts on the reg cab should line up w/ the middle set in the x-cab. (If I remember correctly, the x-cab has an xtra set of mounts for the rear of the cab.)
Front and rear axles are the same, 84 tranny is beefier and slightly longer, and 84 t-case is forward shift instead of top shift.
