the ass end in my 4runner went out..making some nice noises. Any tips/help pages on replacing differential. Should I just look for a complete axle/different assembly and roll the old on out and put the new old on in..
looking for the best options.. this truck does not see much 4wheeling anymore so just daily driver stuff...

Why don't you try finding what "went out" first? May be something simple.
If it's the diff, used 4.10 3rds are cheap, and easy to R&R.

had it diagnosed at a local reputable shop.
Any sources for good used ones?

Check the For Sale forums on this and other Toyota BBS's. I've seen them frequently, $50-100.
Also post in the Wanted forums.
Another obvious source is salvage yards.

So what was the diagnosis? R and P? bearings? Maybe its a sign from above telling you its time to regear!?!?!?

has not been cracked open, so dont know full diagnoses.
no re-gearing here... its a daily driver that doesnt see dirt anymore since moving to the midwest..
anyone want a 1985 Sr5 EFI 4runner - solid front axel. Rebuilt engine and now some noises out of the rear end.... it kinda wants to go back to the dirt...
