what is this, im sure it has something to do with temp. since its on the thermostat houseing but its never been hooked up and my temp gauge seems to work fine.

Could it be a bleeder valve? I know some systems have them so you can bleed the air out of the highest point in the cooling system.

it's not a valve, but thanks for the guess, that wire off to the right hooks to it, i know its some sort of sensor but i dont know what its for.

so would that mean my comp. is never getting a reading on my engine temp causeing it to run rich ?

That would be the case, if your able to you can test it with a multi meter, resistance should be less as temp increases

I doubt if there is anything wrong with the sensor, but it will work better if you hook it up

your ecm has pre programed default values, which means when a sensor such as an 02 sensor goes bad your Mil light illuminates and the computer defaults to a pre programed "false" value. That could be why it seems to still work.. Although if it was disconnected your MIL lamp should be on

disconnected or connected i never have any light come on.
