On my 82 4x4 22R 5 speed my front driveshaft is making an awful clunking noise. I know what caused it and it was my grandpa didnt seem to know what grease was for. I was wondering if a driveshaft from a newer model would work on my truck because its pretty hard to find a used truck of that age around here, let alone a driveshaft. I like to be able to keep my hubs locked in the winter so I have 4wd when I need it. The driveshaft has already been fixed once because of this but i would like a better one.

The only difference between the '83 and older vs '84-85 Drive Shafts is the flange bolt patterns, You could always drill the old pattern into a newer DS flange.
