HELLO, I WAS WONDERING HOW DIFFICULT IT WOULD BE TO PUT POWER STEERING IN MY TRUCK? 1980 TOYOTA PICKUP 4X4-20R ? I THINK ALL I NEED IS STEERING BOX, PUMP, LINES AND BRACKETS. IS THIS ALL IM LOOKING FOR? ANY INPUT IS APPRECIATED.

power steering came stock on my '80 20R, so you might check some local junkyards and see if you can find a complete setup from an old yota that'll just be a complete remove-install deal

i'm not sure what/if other years will bolt up without modifications... i would think a setup off of any 20R should work, but i'm not sure... might be able to snag one from a 22R and it'll work, but i don't know. i'd say just do some looking and checking around, and do a good visual inspection to see if everything's gonna line up before you pay any money out

another thought- if you're going to lift your truck and do crossover steering any time soon, grab the whole PS setup from an IFS truck, cause you'll need the IFS box anyway, and just do the hy-steer and power steering at the same time. might have to make a bracket, though... shouldn't be too hard if you do

The power steering will fit on a 20R off a 22R we did that on our plow truck. It came from an 81 and went on an 80.

if you're going to be swapping to crossover steering, you'll need an IFS box. if you do a search on this board for 'crossover steering' or 'hy-steer', there's a whole ton of info...

Now that im thinking about it we took the 22R out of the 81 and put it in the 80. We did change the steering boxes though and it went on fine. Not sure about the pump but it should work.
