Just for the sake of future reference, I have a 79 toyota that will be going to the shop soon, and I already have a set of 36 in TSL sx's and was curious if we could get them to squeeze on with about 3 inches of lift? also curious how much lift rears up front, and chevy leafs in the rear will get me? pics are helpful, but not a must. Thanks

thats about 4 inches or so of lift with rear up front. u dont need so much lift since the springs push the axle forward quite a bit oh yeah those are 39.5 iroks

well I ordered the zero rates from ORD (2 in leaves) to help move the axel forward. Your truck is sharp, how far can you stuff them? Thanks alot for the pic.

U cant get 36 under a 1979 without wheel spacers, the fenders are to narrow and the tires will rub///IE.. wthout a lot of lift and spacers...you on oradin or off you looking to look good or actually use your 4x4? lot of question before you get an answer on that its a loaded question, and the 79 gearbox(tranny)ew....36 will kill it in no time.....more info before I can gather my opioion on that

Sorry to leave you in the dark. In another post I have been discussing a 350 swap, possibly with a TH350 because I have been fore warned that the stock tranny is not going to handle anything... lift is stated above, either 3 inch or chevys and rears... was told this would net 4 inches. plus my zero rates, this would be 5 inches of lift. This truck is mostly for offroad... not a mall crawler, it's againts my religion. I more then likely gear down a litt,e but not much because I still want to be able to get to the trail's that are close to the house without dragging A**... THanks

We put 31.10/50 on my dads with about 2 inch so spacers and the 5 should get you in close range with tha 35..gears youll need gears. We had the original power plant and tranny with a fresh build and I think it was 4.55 for the 31 10/50 tires you may need to look at 6.13 or comparable if you gonna stay toyota, maybe some these other guys will chime in and give some more advice...been a long day been chasing parts all day so I am gonna get ill keep an eye and see what info you get or add

5.29s will be more then enough with 35s. i would run backspaced wheels instead of spacers. 2.5 inch BS wheels will be perfect or swap in a IFS rear end

not questioning your judgment just askin..he has a 79 so its a 20r mayne even 18r...you think 5.29 nuf? As said just askin hell I am learning myself.....offset wheels I never though of that thats a great idea as well....

it has a 20r but is going to be replaced with either a 350, or a 4.3, thats why if i regear it will only be slight, maybe 4.10's or a little lower, but not much. I will have hte power to turn the tires.

he doesnt have much more of a choice. 5.71 are known to be weak. and there isnt anything past that. plus he already said he was goin to swap the motor. with a 350 i would run 4.88s and an overdrive tranny

Even if he didnt swap the motor 5.29's would work. If that wasn't enough he could always put some lower gearing in the transfer case. Its all in what you want. And what your using it for. Where did you get a ratio like 6.13? I know of a 4runner with 6.12's but its a 22R with 44's. Its better not to answer than give someone bad info. just my 2 cents.

IE. tire size and do the math. simple math at that...Must have never been around old chevys...its not so se threw, tire size and engine and all of that comes into play...you have 100 hp, running threw a (?) driveline threw a (?) tire you lose here and there...Watch a nascar race, or ask one these other guys the math does answers your question.... also IE I metioned camparible, 6.13 was a racing gear in a chevy ......I am not without Knowledge I simply give my advice and some add to or give theirs.

last i checked we aren't racing and we aren't driving Chevy's. i also looked through reider racings catalouge and only for 6.14s in a chevy 8 7/8 rear end. so who was it that had 6.13 in a toyota. oh wait it doesnt exist, unless they bought a 8 7/8 rear end from a chevy car or ran nascar gears in a 9 inch, and made a front 9inch to use the same gears or that chevy rear end converted as a steer axle.
