I know that its asked all the time and this and that.. but i have an COMPLETELY orignal 83 short bed. and i was wondering how much i can lift it before effecting the drivelines. especially the front. and at this point in my life i will be getting alot of windshield time on the road. im also running stock tire size so maybe my question should be if only lift it an inch or two using shackles will THIS effect my drivelines?
im also entertaining the idea of efi or at least i really want it for the milage and power. do newer efi motors bolt up to the L52 trannys?

You can do 2-3" before drive shaft length and steering becomes an issue. Even with that amount pinion angle may be an issue (drive shaft vibes), but degree shims can address that (and usually come with the susp kit). With 3" a dropped drag link and longer torque rod are needed (again, a really good kit may include these).
Lift shackles will also change your pinion angle, but probably not enough to cause DS vibes.
