I am debating on what to do. I have a 94 ext. cab with the 3.0 lifted with 35's. I want to regear with 4.88's, but I plan on doing a SAS with in the next 2 years(Waiting for d60 front and rear). Should I go ahead and regear now, or wait till I SAS?? Opinions are much appreciated.

Do you have lockers? If so what kind. If you don't or if you have the easy to install type I would check out the local junkyards and try to find a couple used pumpkins with the stock 4.88 gears. Might be the cheapest route.

I have a detroit in my rear, but I do not know alot about setting the backlash on the gears. Nothing up front yet. The rig is still my dd. Once the swap occurs then it will be locked. Thanks for the advice.

;D I'm "iffy" on this reply. The Detroit's no good if you go w/Danas. But it can get you $$ for the SAS. Is the truck "driveable"? Meaning, can you live w/it until the SAS? If so, I'd say wait & do it in one shot. Gearing now sounds like a waste of$$$ Later...

A couple of guys I work with were saying basicly the same thing. The truck is my only mode of transportation, if only the wife would agree to my harley.
