a spool works no matter what no matter what well unless an axle is broken. they are the stongest way to lock an axle period. performance is teh same as a lincolin locker. your tires will wear faster and it will push the truck when you try and turn.

I would suggest not to put in spool in the rear unless all you do is trails. If your doing it for the money, aussie locker is only arnd 200$ and you wont have to worry about serious tire wear. A spool also requires special tools to install, a locker like the aussie which does not replace the carrier can be installed without and special tools.

a spool will wear the tires faster. an aussie locker will also but not nearly as much as they do unlock

I have been running my aussie for about a year and a half. I have not noticed a real difference in the tires wearing any faster. I have lit'em up a few times. But over all its not to bad.

u need to use a dial indicator and check the back lash on the gears before you take off the ring gear, then you remove the spiders and install the locker and put back together. the backlast should not change but check it just to make sure.
