Sounds like a leaking o-ring on one end of the air line inside the diff is pressurizing the diff, forcing gear oil out. Usually just air comes out the vent when this happens, never heard of oil.

Hoodlum, You state in another thread that you don't like the ARB compressor. What do you use and what regulator/pressure do you run to the ARB line?
Thanks Stew

Yeah, if you use some other compressor taht has higher PSI output, you can blow the seal in the ARB, causing it to leak like it is.

you might want to re-read that thread I stated that I have never had a prob with ARB it was MATTBC that doesn't like the ARB compressor I like mine just fine I was trying to find out why he doesn't like it

The scavanger extraordinaire came from mike kelly I am one of those folks that can get whatever if you need it and are patient enough I can usually find it I have connections all over the east coast mostly from my fathers friends they build custom classics and do high end fabrication like the mobil missle tracking unit for the patriot missils and my dad and a buddy of his used to build dune buggies in the Boston area and as far as incorpoeating the pinto parts if they'll perform a function sure why not I have used parts from other toyotas into my rig celica, avalon and 4runner

you might want to re-read that thread I stated that I have never had a prob with ARB it was MATTBC that doesn't like the ARB compressor I like mine just fine I was trying to find out why he doesn't like it The problem I have with the ARB compressor is that the "tank" warps and then leaks ... so essentially the compressor is useless ... the way it is made makes it impossible to weld or to attach a fitting directly to the compressor and having a remote tank matt

how does the tank get warped? and for a remote tank it was recomended by ARB to use an inline tank so that the compressor doesn't have to work as hard and I would be able to use air tools and air up tires they said not to use the compressor by itself for anything other than the lockers(prob to cover there a#&) .

I have had no problem with tank warpage.
I do use it to air up my tires (yes it's slow) and it's not made for that (I don't think it's really good for it, but it's not that often.)
It's nowhere near capable of filling a tank to use with air tools. That little would fry. A buddy of mine converted his AC comp for OBA with a tank. We run air tools and it can barely keep up, and it has a way, way, way higher CFM than the ARB comp.

then why would they tell me to get a 6" x 24" tank they said I wouldn't have any prob as long as all the fittings don't leak and the comprssor didn't run for more than 15 min and I wasn't trying to do big jobs but would be fine for quick fixes

The tank is like a cup that sits on a flange. A through bolt holds bith together. In my case the open side of the cup that sits against the flange warps and doesnt seal anymore. I'd like to have a same saize remote tank to get rid of the ARB tank but it doesnt work.. Matt

It is a common problem and will also happen when the o-ring wears... Tell the rep back and tell him he is eihter lying or retarded! Matt
