i just finished putting my 85' land cruiser centre back together(fitted in hilux) and i was just wondering if the pinion bearings and carrier bearings should have pre load or end float,i made up a solid pinion spacer so the pinion had about 0.001 end float, the carrier had about the same.but since then ive been told that it should have pre load.what do you think?thanks

the end play will act just like a worn out bearing causing vibration and killing the bearing. it isnt that much work to pull the diff out and set it up right
