If your welding spiders for a locker, you obviously, don't intend on spending too much.
If your off road only, what kind of wheeling are you doing?
A duel transfer case or v-8 might be a more viable option than a gear/locker setup.
The plus of a lincoln locked 4:10 gearset is you can replace them monthly for $100 or less (around here.NY)
5:29's are on the weaker end of the pinion diameter scale, but I've never had nor broke one anyway.
You sound as though your at the threshhold of deep pockets or thrifty innovations.

36's hurt a 4 or 6 even in low range.
Duel transfer case? YEP! will get you there.
Good idea? Alot of $$$?
A v-8 will turn 4:10's all day long.
Stop welding diff's and start welding motor mounts...
