Hey ya'all . Is it just me or am I really the first one to ask about getting a posi instead of a locker? Anyhow, this is my dilemna. I have and '84 yota and want to acquire some sort of traction enhancing device, but I don't want to weld my gears because my truck is my DD, nor do i really want to buy a locker due to my small budget. I mean, c'mon I'm a freakin 16 year old workin at Fred Meyer....Anyhow, my question for all who read this is whether or not a posi/limited slip would be a better/more cost effective alternative for my truck. Any response will be gratefully appreciated!

aussie locker. they are cheap and easy to install and get all the ffects of a locker and u dont get the ill effects of a posi like it not working.

so is the aussie better on the street than the posi? because that is what i am really lookin for here, is the effect they have on the vehicle while driving on pavement+cost effective ness

aussie locker is a full locker. what effects dont u want. i have been daily driving my truck with a locker in the rear for 5 years no problems.

as far as which effects dont i want is that ive heard that you can get a real weird clicking noise through corners and what not with the locker. plus i already have some experience driving a rig that has a posi. i know the rudimentary basics that differ between the two, but if there is something that im missin that would convince me to go with a locker let me know

posi's have let a lot of people down. i worked at a 4x4 shop and many of the customers who purchased posi's were often back gettin a locker cuz they didnt work. weird clicks thats a locker what ever its not hurtin anything thats what they do they also let u know they are workin.

i wouldn't think that you could get a posi cheaper than a locker. especially with how cheap you can pick up an aussie. and yes posi's do let people down. don't waste your money on one. either lock it up or take that money and buy some recovery equipment

a posi unit will cost you quite a bit more then an aussie or lockrite locker. As far as street manners its not hard to get used to you just have to not be foolish. Like the other day when it was raining and i need to do a u turn so i did a burn out half donut and hit drive pavement putting me up on two wheels and almost flopping my runner. Luckly i have done this on the trail and knew to steer into it or i would have had a hard time explaining to the insurance company how 4runner ended up on its side in the middle of the road. Avoid stupidity like mine and you will be fine.

For the hassle it is too install i wouldnt bother .. The auto lockers like detroit and such do click and some people dont notice a difference on the street, others do. We just yanked it from my buddies truck coz it sucked ass. If you can affords it get an ARB. It has ZERO adverse effect as its off. unless engaged.... A little cheaper is a true trak its a gear driven posi whcich locks more as a posi and doesnt wear out ... or go Toyota E-Locker .. lots of choices there .... My truck was a DD and I went ARB rear and Truetrac front. have never regretted it matt
