I have 4.10's in front right now with a 5 speed tranny, 31"x 10.50/15" tires.
I know that 4.56's will fit in front but will 4.88's also fit?
I read somewhere that the stock 8" rear with stock 4.88s used a special pumpkin with an offset pinion. Does this also apply to the 7.5" front?
Also Does anyone know if the Tacoma used a special pumpkin to run 4.88's?
Thanks

Randys R&P site lists a 7.5" 4.88 R&P, no special notes. I've never heard of any special requirements for 4.88, F or R.

You can fit 5.29s if you want with no problem. I have 4.88s in my 88 with no special mods.

Thank you for the help.
If you were able to put 4.88's in front with no mods then that answer my question
I found the article again. It appears to apply only to factory 8" with factory 4.88's
Solid Rear 1986-1995 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88 58"-58 1/2" 8" 1 5/16" 30 10" rear drums, V6 and turbo applications used stronger third member with larger bearings and bigger third member, coil sprung 4Runner axles are 1/2" wider than pickup axles, factory 4.88s available in vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions starting in 1992, but the pinion is moved closer to the ring gear than on all the other 3rds. This makes it so they can use a standard thickness ring gear instead of an extra thick one. This "thin" 4.88 gear is only made by Toyotas.
Now I need to decide what gears to run.
