hey guys, finally found a site with people who care about fourwheeling and especially about Toyota. I am not really what you would call a newbie, but I do not have all the answers either. I have a 92" toy extended cab 4x4 22re 5speed. I also have a 82' toy long bed 4x4 22r that the body is rotted but frame and chassie in good working order . I want SA, but do not have the facilities to do a SAS. Is it possible to switch bodies??? I have searched and found that guys have switched extra cabs with long beds, but what about extended cab. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey glad you found the site. Yeah I'd switch the '92 cab to the '82 you'll have to move the body mounts but it's no big deal. It's def cheaper to do than doing a SAS on the '92 . The problem that I'm thinking is you may or may not have (depending on a B/L and how much of one) is the mid section of the '82 frame where it starts to curve up is to positioning the rear cab mounts. You may have to channel out the back of the floor for the frame to sit in...?

Both 92' and 82' have three inch body lifts, a little bit of play room. I did a little bit of measuring and found that both frames are nearly identically. the 82' frame is a little wider in the front, but the body mounts sit wider in the 92'. the 92' frame is wider in the rear but body mounts seem to be in the right spot. frame curve in the rear is nearly identical. thank you for your help and advice and see you at other forums!

Good deal. I was afraid it might be like the tacos where the x-cab & d-cab's frames are longer than the reg cab.

First off welcome abord TORhey guys, finally found a site with people who care about fourwheeling and especially about Toyota. What else is there to care about.... I am not really what you would call a newbie, but I do not have all the answers either. Nobody really ever has all the right answers, especially those people that think they do ;D
Definitely swap bodies, much easier and cheaper then doing a SAS. Plus the 92 has a nicer look to it then the 82. But that's just my opinion, and we all know how those are.
Good luck and keep us posted and post some pics of the process
