Hello Forum members...I am currently without a 4wd vehicle but as soon as my Harley sells, I will be looking for a late '80s Toyota. I currently drive a Toyota Sienna. I've owned a couple of Jeeps in the past and like to explore the 4wd roads in the Rockies plus off road on the ranch. Any information on a starting point would be appreciated. I want 4wd, a reasonable lift kit, and a Toyota-typical reliable powertrain. I'm fair with tools, can read a service manual, and have built a couple of Harley motors.
The site is awesome. My congrats to the folks that designed and keep this site going. Thanks in advance.

Cool another fellow biker I unfortunately sold mine off when I moved north of the mason. It's just way to deadly of a game around here. Well if you can build Harleys I don't think you'll have too much trouble building a 4x4 and having a ranch near the Rockies has got to be a beautiful place to live. And convienent for some good wheeling. Gotta love the mountains. To get you started I'd look for something pre '85 in your area you'll most likely find one that isn't rusted out and more important is that it comes with the solid front axle. These are sought after by rock crawling enthusiasts but are also easier to build up as far as lift options and larger tire fitment. Read away we have lots and lots of info. And if you have any Q's just post away and they'll get answered. WELCOME to TOR! Enjoy

Thanks for the response. Your advice makes sense. I fully understand selling the scoot...pretty crazy on the roads with drivers who are less than well-trained, distracted by who knows what, etc. Thanks again. Will keep my eyes peeled for a pre '85.
