Hello all, I am new here, and new to toyota's. I recently purchased an '83 4x4 with the 22R, and a 4" lift, and 31x10.5 tires. I am kicking around some ideas as to what i may or may not want to do with this truck. i am thinking about an engine/tranny swap, and possibly new axles. I am running into trouble finding interior parts and accessories, which is rather discouraging, but all part of the fun. hopefully this will be a good resource for info and a sounding board for ideas. As far as the interior, don't waste alot of time looking for Factory or aftermarket replacement parts.
Go to a U-pick auto parts yard and go shopping!!!
Find a seat you like ( or two )
The dash can be pulled out and easily covered with vinyl or carpet???
Use you imagination..... its your truck.
Don't waste money on axles unless your going crazy build up.
The factory axles are good thru 35's reliably, hard wheelin ( or better )
Unless you putting 300hp to them, your good.

WELCOME to TOR! Glad you found and joined us.  Congrats on getting a '83 I'm also building a '81 that I got last summer.It looks like 94cnytoy has offered his sound advise. For seats look for Hondas and celicas.Some of these are direct bolt in or require minimum fabrication to make fit.But yeah the bone yards and the forums are the way to get the parts you might be looking for. Got any pics of your '83? |
