I have a leaky load sensing proportioning valve on a 85 yota, so I decided to bypass it. I completely removed the lspv and disconnected the return line. So my brake setup looks something like this:
From master cylinder front to a tee, from the tee directly to front disc brakes.
From master cylinder rear to a tee on the rear axle, from tee to rear drum brakes.
I now have very soft brakes. None of the tires lock up under heavy braking. What is wrong with my system? How can I fix? I have a few theories, but I'd like to hear from somebody else first.
Thanks

I had the same prob with my 83. I bypassed the pp valve and had soft pedal. Here is a thought.....If the pp valve is old and leaking, is it possible that the rear wheel cyclinders are also delapidated? I replaced both rear cyclinders (after inspection) rear shoes, threw away all the Ebrake crap, and my pedal is firm now. (i.e. I also checked the front no leaks there. Just the slighest leak can cause mussy pedal.

I replaced my LSPV with an adjustable proportioning valve and it works great you might try that
