I have a 1986 22re, I just moved to Alberta and am wondering how big of a pain it is to install a block heater. I have been looking on the net but i can only find a magnetic one. Will that be ok or should I go to the dealership and get the correct one? Not sure what to do here, I am from the east coast and we don't need them.

I installed a tank style heater (heats and circulates coolant) a few years ago in my 22r. It was pretty simple to install and works great. I got it from a JC Whitney catalog for about $40. I recommend one. My motor starts either way but its happier when warm.

So does it just connect on one of the rad hoses? I think I seen one on ebay like that.
I will look into it. Thanks!

Yeah, I cut one of the hoses on the driver side of the engine and put a T in that came with the heater. There is a plug on that side of the engine that I removed and installed a fitting that also came with the heater. It pulls coolant from the block and pushes it through the system.

I looked at the different ones on the net and decided to just pick up a regular one at Canadian tire. It was only $35. Now my question is where does it go there is like 4 different plugs in the block that I can see. My manual doesn't help me out at all. Which hole?

The one I used was near the firewall kind of low on the block.
