Hey, have had my 94 for a little while now, its my dd and trail. Mild 4 inch procomp susp. some lc motor up grades but I can not find a bigger lift. anyone know of a 6 inch for this truck? Also when I run my 33's for trail the truck won't go above 65-70 even downhill in 4th. Not sure why, replaced the clutch, the valve guides seem to be bad, smokes every now and then and burns oil. Should I spend the time trying to rebuild it, or dare I say bowtie small block??? any answers would be great, love the site.

pickup or 4runner? 3.0 or 22re? Have you regeared or still running stock?
SBC isnt going to be the cheapest or easiest motor to shoehorn in there. But its doable. Im in the process myself. Just waiting on delivery of my transfercase.

I have a v6 with the chaindrive case. Since i have no money invested in doublecases or lower T/C gears and i needed a stronger case to take the power and wanted lower gears for better control in the rocks i went with an aftermarket case. With the 22re most people looking for lower gearing douible up the reduction unit or swap out the T/C gears themselves for lower ones or even do both. I have seen some people run these gear drive setups with V8s. But i question the strength in regards to the cases original nominal torque capicity vs aftermarket. Of course i could have gone full size chevy like the rest of the drivetrain but then the case is going to have hang way done below the frame.
Lockers are a good idea. Though i wouldnt waste a cent on a locker for that IFS front. You are going to be breaking plenty of CVs as it is. If you are running stock tires during the week then whats the complaint? You cant gear the diffs to run two tire sizes. You can gear the T/C so that you have your gearing offroad with the big tires, but it will be a dog on road. But if you swap the diff gears for the big tires the motor is going to be overrevving at hiway speed with stockers on it.
As far as a good gear to go with i dont know. With 33s the common answer is 4.88s. But you want more lift so i have to assume you want more tire as well. I had 5.29s in my toy axles and with 37 MTRs my friends GPS shows the speedo running pretty much dead on.
