I found a 1985 Toyota Pickup 4x4 manual for sale. It is a 22R that isn't working. The guy is selling it because it is going to cost him to much to fix it. It has some surface rust and the bed is rusted pretty bad. As I was looking at the engine I notice there is oil in the radiator. From what I can see it looks like it needs alot of work. He offered it to me for $500. Would you say this is a good deal?

OK, if you can see surface rust the actual rust is probably much worse. The 80's Toys are infamous for frame rust, they rust from the inside out, so by the time you can see it it's really bad.
The fact that the engine doesn't run isn't good.
Oil in the radiator could be 1) the Timing Chain wasn't replaced when due and has worn a hole thru the TC cover, or 2) the Head Gasket is blown (in which case you'd probably see white exhaust if it was running).
Either way, if it was driven a lot with coolant in the oil, you could be looking at damage to the crank bearings on top of everything else.
All in all, if he paid you $500 it would be a good deal.
If you can get it for next to nothing, the frame is in decent shape, and are ready to put some $ into fixing it, it may be worth while, after all, it is a 4X4, and a Toyota.
