Hello Everyone i need some help finding a front bumper for my 81 truck i have a smittybult rear with a 2" receiver and i would like to find one for the front with a receiver as well so my winch can be moved front to back any help would be great Thanks much

now will a bumper for an 84-85 fit on a 81 without welding or will i have to take it into work?

There are dimensional differences between a 1st gen frame (79-83) and a 2nd gen frame (84-88). If you download FSMs for both gens there are frame dimension diagrams and you can compare them to see if they are directly compatible. Or you could ask whoever makes the particular bumper you decide on.

The years are different. I bought my front bumper from Trail Gear and I think it was designed for a 84 and up. The brackets that attach the front bumper were different than mine. The older bumper is missing some holes that have nuts welded to the backside that attach the bumpers. I solved the problem by welding the bumper on. I wouldn't be surprised if you could just figure out a way to drill those holes and get a nut on the backside or make a bracket to bolt the bumper to. Mine is the start of an exocage so welding was the only choice for me.
