Well, I've perused this site for a long time, but finally got my first Toyota pickup, an 89 extended cab v6 standard 4x4, and I am wicked excited. It's got a good bit of rust underneath--any suggestions for slowing down further corrosion would be very much appreciated. Here's a couple pics:

Welcome to TOR! Glad you finally got youself a toy.As for the rust issue.Start sanding down the area(s) and anywhere that cleans up good just spray some anti-rust/rust converter on it prime and paint. If there is rot and or some holes and or heavy flaking you will want to weld in some plate steel to save/strenghten that area. The worst areas are the rear frame where the front of the leaf springs mount and the area at the fuel tank. Other than that just beat around the frame with a hammer to find any other weakened spots.

Well, I'm bummed. The sale fell through because the title was screwed up (prob. a blessing in disguise for me due to rust issue). But, I still don't have a truck and Toyota has crushed all the ones that would've been affordable to me at this point!! (thereby raising the prices on all the others, including pre-tacomas.
