I have noticed the gained interest in myspace the past year or so and noticed the growing interest there for wheeling. I noticed all the big shops, flim crews, magazines, and other forums have started myspace groups, pages, and forums. I just thought that maybe its about time for TOR to branch into the world of myspace.
Just a thought....

I'm open to this, but honestly I don't the time. I barely have the time to keep up with this site anymore...
If anyone is good with Myspace, maybe you could contact me and we could go over some ideas.

I know you are busy and do this out of the goodness of your heart! I wouldnt ask you to do anything more. I posted this figuring maybe a select few moderators or something could put together something and just keep an eye on it. I dont think it would be as nearly as difficult as this site is. Myspace is uber simple! I just thought it might be a good way to get the club out there and maybe pickup a few more good people!

I wouldnt mind helping either. All we would need is an email address. Noting a free account with hotmail or whatnot couldnt solve. Mike, Norcal, or any other moderators here on the site, if this is something that we could do, lets put together some ideas and see what we can come up with.

I have a myspace site that we can use. It's www.myspace.com/norcalyota, and it isn't anything special, but I can certainly change it to represent TOR, with pics from trips and blogs about truck and 4x4 info. Red/Black page colors with the TOR background. Those are my ideas, so I'll hang tight till I get other info. Have a great thanksgiving! |

This is an off road site there does not need to be a freaking myspace that is lame. This is the dumbest idea anyone could think of. It is an idiotic thought. That guy up there is kissing your ass Mike. If myspace was meant for this site there would have been one a long time ago the site is great the way it is, don't make a myspace just so you all can actually have friends.

This site is great, and a myspace site wouldn't disclose so much info that people wouldn't use this anymore, it would be to show our trucks, projects, and talk 4x4 in another context. Anyway, read the title of this post. That's what it's about, don't go out of your way to talk bad about something. If you don't want myspace....no one is forcing it on you.

That's right we're a off-road tech site.That has been built by quality people with inovating ideas and technology. Through the years we've continued to change with the times, and time and time again we've grown from these changes.Mike has worked his ass off as well as Deadly, Snorkleman,Sean,4xfred,myself and fourwd1 to make this site/forum work and provide acurate information. I agree that this MYSPACE will be a good thing. I believe that it will shine more light on our forum and will bring more members which in turn will bring in more info and ideas for other members. This forum hasn't or will ever be like the other forums this is NOT chit-chat camp or The Days of our lives we do not tolerate drama or any other BS other than FRIENDLY ballbreaking. This site is and will always be newbie/family oriented and we will continue to grow. Consider this when I frist joined(end of '01) there were only a few hundred members now we have over four thousand! Why is this, because we change and try to keep new things happening to keep the intrest going. If you don't agree then just ignore it. As to the not having friends comment BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA get a life! |

Well said Hoodlum. I thought I was going to stay away from this one, but.......
I don't know much about myspace other then the basic principal of it. It's a place to say something about yourself and have the chance to talk to all sorts of people all over the world. I have no intension on ever having my own myspace, not really into, or have time for that sort of thing. But then I don't have anything against those people that do. Just like jeeps, just cuz I don't want one (again) and I know a TOY is much better, I'm not going to bash on them and make them feel like shit. I will admit that I do give them a little (friendly) shit, but it's all in fun and humor and they dish it right back at me which is the way it works. And I wouldn't do it if they couldn't dish it back. It's just not as fun then.
So basically just cuz you're anti-something don't mean you have to bash on it, so deal with it, ignore it, or whatever you have to do to get on with your life. I really don't know about this site going to myspace thing, but then as I said I really don't know much about myspace. I also know that I'm sure that bowshtr and norcalyota aren't doing this to try and make friends, especially since they're not talking about making a myspace for making friends, they're talking about making one that will let more people know about our site. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that use myspace and this may be a good way to bring more of them to our site. We're here to help people and we can't help them if they don't know about us.
Just most of the people on this site, I don't know you, but I do know that they're are all friendly and helpful when they can be. You on the other hand have made to four posts since you joined in January and two of them were just spiteful. I'd say you're on your way to getting a good flaming
Maybe we should go off on you cuz you didn't know where a simple to find brake "vacuem" hose was plus don't know how to spell vacuum. Maybe that will make you feel more at home.

There will always be posters like 884life. It's easy to complain when you don't have anything constructive to say.
As for myspace, sure, most people are about 14 years old and use it purely for making friends. Personally, I have enough friends. So, the goal of the myspace page will be PRIMARILY to help newbs by steering them here. I have to imagine most people on myspace are not hardcore wheelers. They might just have questions that need basic answers. That's where we come in - to point them here.
It's an easy and simple proposition. To use myspace as a "marketing" tool for TOR. It can be done, it will be effective, and it is a good idea.
Thanks guys - it's ideas like this that keep us so popular!

To tell yall the truth, there are hundreds and hundreds of hardcore wheelers on myspace. Like i said almost every big name shop has a site. Even Pirate4x4 is on there. A while back when i was lookin around at all these rigs and joined pirates group on myspace it got me thinking about us doing one. Like i said it had been on my mind for a while and seemed like a good idea to "flow with the times"

I check two things everyday, myspace and this site for news from my friends. I am not 14, I don't need myspace to make friends, it is an easy way to keep up with friends I already have. I think it is a great idea and a great marketing tool. I am all for it! On myspace, I am Redneck Renegade or wakeboarder@austin.rr.com at the moment! It is uber simple to upload photos and just as easy to send comments, bulletins etc... I don't watch ER, I don't like American Idol, but I have plenty of friends that do, I ain't going to hate on them, and I ain't going to hate on you! Let me know when it is up, I want to be a myspace friend!
