Tranny Trouble

I need some help, my Manual Tranny in my 85 toy slips, or pops out of gear only when in revese. I heard somewhere that Toyota Transmissions have a seporate revese gear from the rest of the gears? Is there a temp fix I can do until I can get a another tranny. Please help, any idea would be greatly appreciated.
