Ok, I have a question if anyone has the time to answer me. Since I've purchased my vehicle, I have had this recovery issue with the vehicle. At speeds up to 55mph, it feels like any other SUV. When I hit the freeway however, the vehicle doesn't seem to recover quite right when I hit a major dip at speeds of 65mph+. It does it going straight or at a curve. It doesn't bottom out or anything, but it is as if one side wants to keep bouncing a little longer (but not like a bad shock bounce) while the other side stabilizes. I've been told shocks, tires, among other things. I've replaced them all. After I bought new shocks and tires, I was told 'no, you must have bought bad shocks'. So I bought another pair of shocks, with the same effect although slightly lessened as I would expect anyway from a new pair of shocks. That's a total of three sets of shocks with the same symptom. I've always said that I thought it was in the springs. I read your article about the effects of torsion bar adjustments. Could this be something as simple as a torsion bar adjustment? Could it be that the torsion bars are not set evenly? The problem is completely in the front end. A mechanic checked out the front end and said that everything was solid, so I've ruled out ball joints, idler arms etc. (had them replaced anyway just in case)

What year is the toyota? I am guessing that it is a 86-95 truck or 4runner so. If it is a older 4Runner they do usually ride pretty rough. Mine rides extremely rough because I have the torsion bars cranked on it. You might want to check into whether the bars were cranked by a previous owner.

Maybe somethings loose. Could the adjustment bolt have come loose on one side makeing it spongier feeling?

I know when i was runnin my worn out IFS it rode like you are describing. IMO the ifs doesnt ride as smooth as my solid axle setup. I played with my torsion bars loosening and tightening. I found with them slightly cranked it seemd to ride a bit better, maybe cause they were worn out. Who knows. Remember these vechiles are no cadilac, they are built pretty tuff and seem to ride that way at times. SOmething else i noticed, my truck at the time of IFS seemed to ride a bit better when i had a small load in the back ie*a few hundred lbs*
