i recently bought my 89 and not sure the lift on it, i upgraded from 31" bf goodrich to 33's...im thinking it needs an alignment, but if a shop aligns to factory specs, will i get abnormal tire wear? if so, what do i tell the guy at the alignment shop?

Any good shop should be able to align it to what you got.
