Ive talked to a few people and they say its harder to install a body lift than a suspension lift. Is that true? I was looking into maybe a body lift and installing it myself but someone said to get it done professionally? Is this true?

Body lift should take an afternoon to install and should cost about 100 bucks. Definately do it yourself. 700 is a total scam. That represents more then a full day of labour. Total scam!

Save the $700 and buy yourself some lockers or something else more worthy. The only thing about body lifts is making sure all the lines extend. Its really not a big deal...get a block of wood, a jack and start getting it done. Good luck...follow 4xfred's advice and read up on it to get an idea of what needs to happen. It will save ya some time and headache. Good luck...

A body lift is definitly a DIY thing. Do it yourself, save a bunch of $$, and learn something about your truck in the process.

Definitly do it yourself. I'm 18 and just put a 3 inch body lift on my 87 4-Runner. It took about a day but I was doing it myself and had a hard time getting the bolts in the middle of the cab off. If you have someone to help it shouldn't be any problem, just make sure you have a good jack and blocks to lift it up. Good luck, Stephen

i did the body lift on my 92 truck a few weeks back . i built the whole lift kit myself , bumper lift brackets , radiator drop brackets and the 2 " UHMW blocks .. the bed is a very easy operation and i think it took 2 hours and i was backing out of the garage . the cab is a different story, it is not that it is any harder to get to the bolts or lift it , you have some little extra stuff you need to do to make everything function properly . i needed to heat and bend my shifters to get them to fit properly in the boots . for the cab it took me about 6 hours to get everything just right and back together. i guess a guy could do an "Indy 500 pit stop" install in less time but if you want the truck to stay in gear and dont want to butcher up the area around the shifters or the boots its probably a good idea to take the time and get it all right the first time . hope this helps Baron Von Warner

;D Baron brought up a good point. Is your truck auto or man? BIG difference on the install. Later...

The susp. lift will take you longer, expecially if your doing it your self. The body lift is faster and cheaper!!! There is things you need to do though, like extending lines and shifting levers, make sure you take notice of that stuff.Good luck!!!!!!
