i have an 89 toyota 22re 5spd and the gauge cluster has no tach. i was wondering if i took a gauge cluster from an 89 to 94 toyota pickup with a tach if it will hook up. i know on some cars it can be done but i was not for sure on a toyota.
thanks

I beleive in 92 they changed from the cable drive speedo to an electronic one so make sure to look out for that.

you could even go with a bolt-up tach/shift light combo that mounts on the dash. it would probably be easier than rewirin all of the gauges, but has a less-than-stock look to it. i know checker an autozone have them for between $50-200, and i might add even the cheaper ones can look pretty sharp. -Andrew

ahhhh, the inexperienced giving bad advice... If you want to know if your tachometer will work once you plug the guages in, look for a black wire on your igniter. If you dont have this black wire, your tach will have to be wired in but it's really only a matter of running a wire from the black wire on your igniter to terminal C2-17 on your guage cluster. Real simple stuff but make sure that you get the 4 cylinder guages as the v6 guages will work but will not be calibrated correctly.
